MBBS it is.
Saturday, June 18, 2016 | 1:29 AM | 0 Comment(s)
MBBS. Short for Bachelor Of Medicine And Bachelor Of Surgery. That's is what I'm going to, or at least plan to dedicate my next 5 years for.

I still can't believe I'm seriously pursuing medicine. Yes, even while doing 2 years foundation in CFS, I never stop doubting this path. But I guess it about time I faced it seriously.

Well, enough about me. The reason why I decide to write a new post on my long-forgotten blog is because I made a promise with myself to write a bit about kuliyyah interview once my place in Kuantan is secured. Because...you know, with hope my post can enlighten the juniors the way the post of the seniors help me facing the interview before. Hopefully it is slightly helpful. Just a bit from what I can recall.

So, kuliyyah interview. The way the interview are conducted differ among courses. For pharmacy and dentistry, it was individual interview. For allied health science and medicine, it was done in group. Not sure 'bout nursing because never got to ask the nursing students. Noted that this may be different for other years because there's time when medic interview was done individually.

As for what to prepared for the interview, first of all, prepare the answer to the most cliche' question ever: 'Why you want to become a doctor/ pharmacy/ etc..?' This question is almost guarantee to be asked. After all, among the aims of this interview is that they want to see whether we're serious about taking this critical courses or not.

Among the other questions for pharmacy students:
-What's your plan for your future career?
-What current issues related to pharmacy that you know other than dispensing issue?
-How do you handle stress?
-Are you single/ do plan to get marry early? (not sure which one)

Questions for medicine students:
-Tell me about yourselves.
-Any involvement in society?
-Have you ever have to deal with difficult team members? How do you deal with them?

As for the dentistry, I don't remember the exact questions but they are very 'unique' questions. Some of my friends were asked questions about their state, i.e, background of famous food. Dentistry interview is probably the hardest among all because it is said that the panels tend to ask unexpected questions. You might even have to sing or draw on the spot. So yeah...

All in all, just give it your best. Don't be too stress about the interview. Don't be like me. Just show your passion for your courses and thing will be fine. InsyaAllah.

I think I've forgotten how to write properly.

Black is...

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the explanation for my love towards black and also my excuse for wearing black 'tudung' almost everyday to class. Almost because it's compulsory to wear white 'tudung' on wednesday. Tch.

Two years for crying out loud!

It's been way way too long since my last post. In fact, it has been more than two years if I'm not mistaken. Well, I'll skip all the excuses just because it's not important and also because I'm too lazy. *peacesign

Anyway, back to the main reason of this post. Yesterday on 16th of April, I went for Petronas Youngstars Day 2014 at UTMspace. I left home as soon as I'm done with the morning prayer. My mom decided it'll be a trouble to drive all the way there so we took the LRT from Kerinchi station to Ampang Park station.

I reached at UTMspace minutes after 7.30 am. I expected there to be a long line of people like what I had read a some blogs but nah. I only had to queued up for few minutes then it's my turn to hand in the prepared documents and then got my name tag n a few other things. I thought this situation is because it's the last day for the programme but turn out many people came very early that when I went into the designated room, there weren't that many empty seats.

Free stuffs.

After registration end at around 8.45am (before that I was only dying out of boredom), we were being briefed on about the sponsorship that we are aiming for. It's called sponsorship because 80% is fully-scholarship means we'll not have to pay them back while the other 20% might have to be paid back in certain circumstances. Then we were given some briefing on our assessment.

All the participants were divided into three groups; red, blue and yellow. The groups were decided from registration. Those who came early, will be in the red group. The rest will be in blue and then yellow. The colours actually indicated sessions and that the participants were further divided into smaller groups of five people each. All of those in the red group went for interview session first while yellow will took the test. What 'bout the blue? Well, blue group had to wait for red to finish the interview first. So yea, in the mean time, the blue group just mingle around to kill time.

I was part of the blue group(7) btw. After it's finally our turn to be interviewed, we were taken to another room at different floor. We were each given two papers and a pencil. One contained information of the case study that we had to talk about and another is a blank paper for us to used. For the case study, we were given long explaination of an issue on the first page. The issue was the same for everyone which was education policy and system. However, on the next page, we were given with different recommendations for the issue which we had to elaborate on depends on what card we had. I didn't quite remember but I think we were given 30 minutes to think what we wanted to present to the interviewers. Although we're seated near of teammates, no discussion allowed.

The cards also indicated our turns. Those who got card A would go in for individual interview first. Individual interview last around 10 minutes but some will be less than that if the interviewers didn't have many questions. After he/she came out, it's card B's turn followed by card c, card D and another person with card A. After that, one of the two interviewers'll call all five members to come in and do a group discussion.

After interview, it's time to perform our prayers and have lunch. Then it's time to have the tests. For people who took technical courses (engineering), they had to sit for MST which consisted of chemistry, physics and the math subjects if I'm not mistaken. I'm among the non-technical who took MT. The duration of the test was one hour. After that we had Critical Reasoning Test (CRT). It consisted of 40 questions and we had 30 minutes to answer it. For each questions, we were given several shapes and we had to choose from five options which will be the next of the sequence.

Out of the three assessments, I like the CRT best. It sounds hard but once you see its pattern, it's easy to predict the next one. You can't write or draw anything on the test paper so make sure to ask for blank paper if they offered to you because you'll need to sketch something to see it clearly. Also be quick cause you don't have much time. Skip the hard one first and do the rest.

About the other two assessments, I'm the last person to give any advice on them. I screwed up my individual interview and also the Math Test. Group interview however was nice. Couldn't be more thankful for getting such a nice and friendly teammates.

All in all, even though I kind of died twice, it was a nice experience. It was my first interview after all. Plus it was very refreshing to meet new people. Not to mention they are a great ones. Very friendly. I want to mention some here but since I'm not sure of the spelling, better not.
